Alright guys,

So I'm looking to get another general backup HDD for my uni projects. I was looking for about a TB, no more, and it's gotta be reliable. I want an external one.

It seems the best value is this:

Samsung G3 Station 1.5 TB External hard drive

1.5TB but better value than most. I've had Samsung drives fail me in the past though and am a little wary of them, I was wondering if anyone could reassure me on it before I buy?

Cheers guys

I'm enthusiastically in favour of WD, as their drives are yet to give me any problems at all. A set of samsung F1's have been more temperamental than I would like so I'm now avoiding them. This is a very limited sample though. I would look at Western Digital (WD) external drives, and keep it in a draw / cupboard when it isn't being written to.

I've found a few gigabytes to be ample for storing completed uni work, so I have projects saved to a flash stick, Dropbox.com and the uni servers. The same files are also on two laptops. I figure I'll have to be very unlucky indeed to lose all copies.
