Hello all, I currently have an average laptop and I'm in dire need of upgrading it so it can handle UDK, Autodesk Maya and Photoshop better, this involves a lot of multi-tasking, so my question is how should I go about buying a new computer. For security stuff I'd recommend just using free stuff such as AVG, as you see this comes in cheaper and will be faster (you cant compare like for like clock speeds, Intel beats AMD) or for a bit more you can get the 2500k which would allow you to OC it if you were happy doing so YOUR BASKET 1 x Intel 10100i Configurator - Gaming System £694.68 - No Security Software - Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin (system build fan) - Networking Not Selected - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050) - OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - Onboard Sound Card (ZERO COST) - No Hard Drive Upgrade - OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM - No Hard Drive Upgrade - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST500DM002) - OcUK GeForce GT 430 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card - Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) - Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard REV 1 - No Upgrade - Intel Stock Cooler (None overclocked systems) - No Overclocking Options (Zero Cost) - Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail - Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black Total : £713.28 (includes shipping : £15.50).

You can overclock the CPU to 4.4-4.8 GHz On the other builds you can't overclock. On the build you suggested it has bulldozer which is bad. A Pentium dual core is about the same speed as the FX 4.
