New AV Reciver and Chromecast

Hi all

I'm looking to upgrade my ageing AV Reciver (pioneer VSX C502)

I'm looking at the Sony STR DN840

My question is does anyone know if a Chromcast will work if plugged directly into one on the HDMI inputs on the amp.

Or which amps work like this, I have heard it's possible.

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work as it's just an HDMI output like most media players have.
