Hey,

I think if there ever was a time to go for a new build now is the time with the Core i7 CPU's now out available. I was thinking of getting the below spec from the OCUK PC configurator option as I do not have time to build myself.

Options applied to the above product:
- No CPU Overclock

- Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail

- Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos Silent Full Tower Case - Black (No PSU)

- Akasa AK-967 Nero Direct Contact Heatpipe CPU Cooler (AM2/AM2+/939/LGA775/LGA1366)

- Asus P6T Deluxe Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard (temporarily out of stock)

- OcUK Cellshock 6GB PC3-15000C8 Blue Edition 1866MHz (6x1GB) Triple Channel DDR3

- Point of View GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

- Point of View GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

- Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB 10000RPM SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD1500HLFS)

- Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000340AS) (temporarily out of stock)

- No RAID Option (ZERO Cost)

- Pioneer DVR-216DBK 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM

- Corsair HX 1000W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-1000HXUK)

- Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (66I-01939)

Total price: £2647.09

I know it's a pricey system but I want the best that's currently available as I do not intend to be upgrading for at least 4 years maybe more. I would just like your advice as to what I could change if necessary to improve this build and whether or not it's a good move?

Thanks! :)

Might wanna consider stretching your budget to include a 300GB VelociRaptor instead of the 150, more space, more games! :)

If you really wanna go the extra mile, buy two VelociRaptor 300GBs and stripe them, and get two 1TB drives and run a mirror RAID, you'll feel a lot better knowing you've got a mirror of your drive.

Whats the warrenty like on the RAM you picked? If it's less than 4 years you might wanna consider going up and getting some with an unlimited warrenty.

Or go with a SAS 15.6 15,000 rpm cheetah. That board supports it and its the same price as a 300GB raptor.

Also its better to go with 1333mhz ram. Download the manual from ASUS website and check the configuration out.
