New Build Lighting up - no post

Hi All,

I built a budget home office computer and the problem I am having is that when I press the power button it all lights up, bells and whistles LED's, chassis fans, CPU fan the only issue is it doesn't post. I have already checked all the connections and tested it with a different power supply to no avail.

I was worried that the processor wasn't compatible with the main board but some sources online said they were before I bought it.

Before I breadboard it I was wondering if anyone could perhaps shine any light on any other factors?

The system is;
Asus prime a320m
Ryzen 5 1600
Corsair 8gb 3000mhz DDR4 (1x8gb)
480 Kingston SSD
450w EVGA BR 80+ Bronze PSU
CIT Prism Mid Tower

Any help would be appreciated.

Asus website does suggest the the R5 1600 is compatible out of the box.

Is everything new?

Yeah everything is brand new, delivered this week.

Just a quick check: got the ATX 12v power cable plugged in up by the CPU?

(only asking cos I've done it...)

Yeah got the 4 pin CPU cable plugged in and 24 pin mobo cable in snug.

The R5 1600 NEEDS a discrete GPU- it has no built in graphics!! That's yer problem, right there...

I've got an old radeon 5570 would that work?

Should do. It's a PCI-E card, so it should work!

It'll get you up and running, although it's a very old card. Would be worth upgrading to something like this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pali...ddr3-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-024-pl.html - fifty quid, go for a 2GB model. But the Radeon should get you going for now.

If all you're doing is word processing or other simple office stuff, then no, not really.

Yeah it's purely for home office use hence the reason for not opting for a graphics card.
