I’m building a new x79 rig and need help with a GPU. I haven’t been able to decide on getting the 2GB 670 or spending a bit more and getting the 4GB 670…… or spending a bit more and getting a 680. The models I had in mind were:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-095-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2294) - £330
Asus GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II 2048MB (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-278-AS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2294) - £350
KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 4096MB (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-031-KF&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2294) - £370
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 WindForce 3x OC 2048MB(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-093-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2255) - £420
It’s not only for gaming, I use it for video encoding and folding@home etc. I have a single 24” 1920x1200 monitor but do intend to get another in the near future.
Is it worth the money in spending anything over the £330? I guess I could pocket the difference and get another 670 if I need the extra power later. … but I always say this and usually just step up a generation or two. Are these the brands I should be looking at?
I'm usually a diehard EVGA fan but they seem to be behind in the generation (custom boards and cooling), can anyone comment on this?
Budget is around £450ish at the top end.
