Hi all,

Going to be upgrading my current build in Q3 / Q4.

I'll be mainly using for gaming (flight sim enthusiast) but I also rip my blu rays using MakeMKV and Handbrake.

I'd like to reduce the time it takes to rip my blu rays as it takes a good 30 hours odd for to rip one 1080p movie.

Does Handbrake benefit from more cores, higher frequencies or both?

classic case of i7 9700k 8 core is solid for gaming, ryzen 7 2700x is great for higher res gaming, rendering and keeping system costs down and 9900k being to top ringer of both combo's but paying full price for it.

2700x will beat 9700k for trans-coding but 9900k will beat it due to clock speed and ipc performance ( when clocked at the same speed)

BUT WAIT FOR RYZEN 3000***

Video encoding can utilize high core/thread counts.
By then there's good chance for getting more high performance cores with Zen2 Ryzens.
