Ive been contemplating with the idea of building a new system for a while. I have been recommended to wait a few months for the new AM2 chips and so on to come out and be fully stable etc. But my current rig is on its last legs. Wit gfx cards failing etc, i think its time for a new one.

I have £2000 to spend, and want dual gfx cards 2gb of memory or more and a dual core CPU. I am keeping my current case, and hard drives.

The system I am thinking of is:

    CP-129-AM AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA4800CDBOX) (CP-129-AM)
    £364.95 £364.95
    MB-131-AS Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe Crossfire (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-131-AS)
    £109.95 £109.95
    MY-002-MK Mushkin 2GB DDR XP4000 Redline Extreme Performance Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (991493) (MY-002-MK)
    £199.95 £199.95
    GX-045-CO ATI Radeon X1900 ***Crossfire Edition*** 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-045-CO)
    £259.95 £259.95
    GX-123-SP Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X BLIZZARD 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-123-SP)
    £389.95 £389.95
    CD-048-SO Sony DWG120A 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Silver) - OEM (CD-048-SO)
    £23.50 £23.50
CA-037-TT Thermaltake VC3000BNS Armour Jr SuperMidi Tower - Black (CA-037-TT)
    £49.95 £49.95
    CA-008-HP Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU - Red UV (CA-008-HP)
    £54.95 £54.95
    MO-041-SA Samsung SM-940BF 19" LCD Monitor - Silver/Black (MO-041-SA)
    £214.95 £429.90
    Subtotal £1,883.05
    VAT £329.54
    Total £2,212.59

So, what I am asking for is any advice on ny other components I should use instead of the ones listed. Maybe NVidea graphics instead..

Also, please note the dual monitors at the bottom.. This is not included in the price requirment, jst a personal perchase for a different rig.

    Thnks.

What a beast of a computer...

Only thing I'd suggest is getting an NEC DVD-RW because according to many they're the best on the market at the minute.

You do not want a new monitor? Are you sure?

What PSU/Case/HD's do you have currently?

What Monitor do you have right now? Better be bigger than 19 to fully utilise the full power of dual cards.

I chose Nvidia as they run quieter (much quieter) cooler and use less power. But they give good performance! The stock coolers are monsters!

The 4400+ with the ram and board will mean lots of fun overclocking! The PSU just plain rocks with a great case and fans!

And lastly the dell 2407, looks to be great on paper. But some problems! Do some reasearch.

If you dont want a monitor etc etc then add a X-FI.
    Thanks.

I am currently running a sony 21". But prolly replace with the 2 I added onto the order. Current Case is a a Lian Li, a tired Antec PSU 500W and A Raptor 74Gb as boot drive with a terra of Western Digital Caivears 250Gb.

If I replaced motiro with the dual 19" from the order, would the dual cards still not b worth it and how much gain would b achieved by having them?

Not much gain with 2 cards unless you are running a stupidly big resolution. (30inch or something).

Get one 1900XTX with a vf900 to keep it cool.

That looks much better to me, add a VF900, a cpu cooler and X-FI.

    A well rounded system.

    Thanks.

I suppose those extra graphic cards may help if your wanting to use anti-aliasing, antistropic filtering to the max on new games. And for future games such as Crysis (I'm sure that's gonna kill any PC from the look of screenies :p )

    Yeah I think so.

Do some reasearch, but in my opinion dual cards are not worth it.

One 1900xtx will run all games on max settings fine. :)
