Hi All.

I've been out of the loop with recent hardware developments (maybe 3-4 years out of date) so I'm not up-to-speed on the latest and greatest CPU's/mainboards/RAM etc.

I'd like to reuse most of my kit, so the spec is just for mobo/cpu/ram and I'll probably slot a SSD into it.

I do a lot of work with virtualisation and test servers, so I was hoping for a build along the following lines with a minimum of cost:

Multi-core CPU, ideally 8 cores or more (am I being optimistic? lol).
16gb RAM, or more if its cheap enough.
Any mainboard with integrated graphics or a PCIe slot so I can reuse my existing devices.
Don't care about upgrade potential, if there is an architecture that's EOL but has dirt cheap components that'll be fine.

I'm not looking to spend a great deal of money, £2-400. No overclocking requirement / use of a stock cooler is fine. I just want as much CPU power and memory for my money as possible for my budget. Intel or AMD, doesn't matter as long as it'll run my VMs sweetly.

Thanks in advance for your help.
