Hi everyone, I used to be into building my own computers but that was 12 years ago and so much has changed, I want to build a new gaming pc and I have a budget of 2k can any give me any advice? Tia jason
I am into games like cod and battlefieldNow is an exciting time to get back in to PC gaming. The RTX 30 series GPUs have just been launched and AMD are launching their new CPUs on Oct 8th.
Which games are you going to be playing?
Think about a RTX 3080 - maybe step back to a 3070 (Oct 15th) - with a 3440x1440 144 Hz monitor on a B550 motherboard with a Ryzen 3700 or 5700 CPU and 16 or 32 GB RAM.
Hi doesn't include monitor and I do prefer amd to be honestHi and welcome.
Does he 2k include a monitor, etc. ?
Zen 3 cpu is due to be released mid October do you want to wait or build now.
And or intel any preference, intel still top get gaming but not by much, AMD great all rounder.

4k is what I want with a decent frame rateWelcome!
2k can be more than enough. Depends if you want 4k, high frame rates, and/or future proofing at desired quality.
Next gen consoles which release right now are great value for money, with actually decent hardware for once. But the new Nvidia cards are decent value too, many are just waiting for AMD to produce their hand of cards before possibly upgrading.
You arrived just about the perfect time, though prices could be a bit uppy downy still with corona still hanging about.
Can you do a intel aswell pleaseHere's an on-budget start including monitor:
My basket at Overclockers UK:
- 1 x MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk (AMD AM4) B550 ATX Motherboard= £159.95
- 1 x AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight Core 4.4GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail= £338.99
- 1 x Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming 10GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card= £689.99
- 1 x Super Flower Leadex III 850W 80 PLUS Gold Modular Power Supply - Black= £112.99
- 1 x Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) 3600 MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4 Memory Dual Kit= £74.99
- 1 x WD Blue SN550 1TB NVME M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 Solid State Drive (WDS100T2B0C)= £109.99
- 1 x Fractal Design Meshify C Blackout Midi Tower Case - Black Light Tempered Glass= £109.99
- 1 x Scythe SCFM-2000 FUMA 2 Dual Fan CPU Cooler - 2x120 mm= £47.99
- 1 x Iiyama G-Master GB3461WQSU-B1 34" 3440x1440 IPS 144hz 1ms HDR Freesync Ultrawide Gaming Monitor= £398.99
Again, you may wish to drop to a 3070 and new Ryzen CPUs are imminent - if they don't do a paper launch.

Its been a long time since I built one but don't I need a harddrive? If I am being stupid please say lolNice build by @Quartz but would up the ram to 32gb.
You do have a hard drive it's an wesrern digital blue m2 drive 1tb nvme which you plugs straight into a slot on the motherboard No cables required .Its been a long time since I built one but don't I need a harddrive? If I am being stupid please say lol
Things have changed lolYou do have a hard drive it's an wesrern digital blue m2 drive 1tb nvme which you plugs straight into a slot on the motherboard No cables required .
You could always add another hard drive to store photos, etc.
In terms of gaming performance not really.Would upping budget to 2.5k make much off a difference?
Now is not the time to be buying Intel. Current Intel CPUs do not support PCI Express v4.
You don't need pcie 4.0 though for a 3080. Makes no difference.
True but it makes a difference going forward. Not only WRT GPUs but you can also plug in another card - e.g. 10 Gb ethernet or video capture - without ill effect.
