New Tyres

The tyres on my MTB have seen better days and I'm looking at replacing them soon, the rims are 26x1.75 and the current tyres are 26x1.95.

I cycle on road or cycle path, the occasional rough sections but nothing severe, a hybrid tyre might be the best option here.

Would I choose a tyre width that matches the rim?

Any inexpensive recommendations?
