I was at queue for a Asus GeForce RTX 3080 ROG Strix Gaming OC 10GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card at position 48 until today. I originally ordered on 19 Sep 2020 at 02:53:00. I received an OC e-mail on Friday and was offered the cards that others have mentioned previously on the forum. Today, I finally opted for the 3080TI ROG Strix and paid £1589.99 inc VAT which I have to admit is a stupid amount of money. It is still a good price for this card.

I had my heart set on a Asus RTX 3080 Strix. Surprisingly, several folks have also taken this card offered according to the OC customer service operative. Just not admitting it on this forum by the looks of it.
That is mad but your money!

I think your heads gone! An RTX 3070 with close enough performance of the 3080 was only £40 odd more or you could have got a faster RX6800 XT for £600 less!

Nah, it's a stupid amount of money for any card of this class. The 3080 was supposed to be £650, and the Ti variant is roughly 10% faster - so A £700 card at best. And you paid nearly £1600. Terrible value. But whatever, it's your cash to burn. :)

To his defense the Ti has 12gb of Vram and will last him way longer, but as someone who got the 3070 ti I agree the ti is just too much money. It wasn't worth for me at least.

With the saving on a 3070ti you will likely be able to buy a 4070 next year that will be faster than a 3080ti and probably come with 16gb VRAM.

That's a reasonable argument, in the end it depends on what you're willing to spend, value wise the 3070 ti offer is the best choice but I dont blame someone going all in for a 3080 ti

But for less than what he paid, you can find boxed, sealed brand new 3090s (actual sold prices) with faster performance and 20GB of vram..

The 3080Ti pricing is just an end-to-end pi55-take from Nvidia (and I'm saying that as someone who already owns two Nvidia cards! :))

It definitely is, I was going to get it but then I remembered Brexit happened so it would be around 1729 euro before tax and then when it comes into Ireland I would be paying another like 350 euro! So I just didn't bother and will just have to wait it out and pray my 3080 order isn't cancelled.

True but then you might aswell get an FE version for £1050 and keep the £550 in your pocket.

My strix 3080ti arrived in Ireland and I've paid my VAT and duty; it was less than anticipated, but on the other hand I'm bad at math. Now to just hope it arrives and isn't DOA, which would be kind of hilarious on the off chance it was at this point.

I am in the 190’s for this card, which I ordered on launch day, by the reckoning of the figures quoted above OCUK will be paying me to take a 3070Ti off their hands as they would be refunding the difference for what they are letting the 3070Ti go for and what they sold the 3080 to me on launch day.

Depends what you're offered. Of the four 3070ti models I was offered, only one was a rebate on the strix 3080 I originally offered, but I must stress that the initial email's numbers were incorrect for me per a webnote reply.

How much did you pay altogether including the vat and duty? Also which 3080Ti did you get

Strix 3080Ti; overclockers have this weird habit of sometimes calling the Strix line 'ROG Strix' and sometimes just 'ROG Gaming' when the only ROG 3080Ti is the Strix.

As for total payment:
21 September 2020: paid €984.99 for a Rog Strix 3080 OC (€984.99)
1 January 2021: refunded €176.49 VAT (€808.50)
23 July 2021: begrudgingly paid €704.50 to upgrade to a Strix 3080Ti (€1,513)
28 July 2021: paid €371.47 to DHL, was expecting nearly €600 (€1884.47)

So uh...yeah. Nearly 2 grand in total.
If you'll excuse me I have to go make sure I never actually acknowledge that number ever again, but god damn I did not want to downgrade to a 3070ti. Here's hoping that future launches aren't as painful.

Im curious how much my queue has dropped now since a good few people might have jumped to the 3070Ti or 3080Ti, sadly it seems queue updates are every month now since the last update I got was on the 18th of July and before that was like the 13th of June

With the caveat that the prices I was initially sent were incorrect and higher, the cheapest 3080Ti I was offered (Palit Pro) was £390 cheaper than the Strix. Though I wouldn't say I regret the Strix 3080ti purchase, if I wasn't stressed out and panicked ('I need to do this now before they all go', having received my email on day 1 of offers) at the time I probably might have made a different decision. Just have your thinking cap on if and when your time comes!

3070Tis, if you're willing to take that performance hit, are significantly cheaper.

I was only offered the 3080Ti Strix OC and TUF OC

Asus' gaming ranges are called (officially)
ROG - Republic of Gamers
ROG Strix Gaming
TUF Gaming

For one reason or another there are products which don't fall under any of these brands and there aren't currently any pure ROG (Republic of Gamer) currently cards on the market
