I'm not really suprised after seeing that other thread about how they would be making a loss if they propped the prices!

Wonder when we'll see EVGA and BFG ATi cards then, as they can't be happy about having to do this. :p

BFG 5870 OC, EVGA 5870 SSC, got a nice ring to em. :D

I know! Amazing. And all those Nvidia Fanboys came on against him as well.....

At least all those EVGA and BFG gtx280/285 owners can look forward to a Fermi next year if theirs break.

That sucks. I wanted to pick another for SLI.

But I might wait for Fermi next year then.

Charlie normally is right, but he tends to plump out the "facts" with a bunch off his own issues, this seems to put people off, haha in fact it seems to enrage a lot of people. When the story broke you only had to look at the stock of the cards in most stores to know something was up. It'll be interesting to see what cards the review sites compare the 5770 and 5750 to tomorrow, as half the nvidia line up just got canned they will no longer true competitors ?

I though the actual true story was Nvidia was dropping chipset manufacturing not GPU manufacturing.

There isn't and official statement from them about stopping their graphics card production yet.

They won't do an official statement, instead they'll send the Iraqi Information Minister to say that their TnT Riva is faster in Batman than 4x5870s

I think even if it is true you'll be unlikely to find an Nvidia statement about it; they don't normally make public discontinuation notices, I suppose they think it'd be bad for the sales of the remaining parts (which would annoy retailers slightly). Also that it's the partners discontinuing their GTX200 lines, not Nvidia, although as far as us consumers are concerned it's more or less the same thing.
