If you want them to run in dual mode then they have to be both black or both blue.

Maybe tweaking would help, give it a go. Try relaxing the drive strength.

Hi folks. Was wondering if someone could help me.

I am having serious problem with Asus A8N32-sli motherboard. I am using the 2GB Dual cahnnel baliistix memory. When i use the settings suggested i get about 10-15mins of anything then it will jump back to dekstop and sit there. It hasn't frozen as i can then start up the game or whatever i was doing and it will go for another 10-15mins and do the same thing. I swapped memory over to old Star memory from local supplier and is running fine, so i'm thinking its the memory or the bios setting for the memory thats at fault. Does anybody have the same kit with it running stable so that they could pass on what bios settings they have.

I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

Set everything to default(auto) in the bios. If you still have problems crashing back to desktop I would consider that the memory is at fault. Try tweaking one setting at a time...test...then if all is ok you can tweak another then retest, continuing until you have the optimum settings for your ballistix.

has anyone actually got any good settings for this board yet ?? ;)

I'm not used to all the new settings (come from a P4 to an Opteron) so i'd like to try and get this 165 upto 2.5+ ;)

I've got the PC4000 g.skill working OK (so far) in mine :)

The only difference with you 165 and my 170 is that your 165 has a 9x multi and mine has a 10.

First off set you multi to 9 and the FSB frequency to 278 (=2.5ghz). You may need to increase the vcore a little but for now keep it on standard and see how you go. Keep the memory settings on auto as this board is ok at finding out stable settings. Once you have found a cpu clock you are happy with that is stable you can go back into the memory and make some fine tuning adjustments. Test stability with two instances of Prime95 small fft's for CPU and use memtest for memory stability.

Most 165's will do at least 2.5ghz without too many problems.

:D I've got LianLi V2000+B + Asus A328N Sli Deluxe and no problems whatsoever with installing mobo. Only thing is non-removable mobo tray.
But no problems other than that.
Most reports suggest that the inverted mobo mounting actually helps with cooling.

//System Frequency

CPU FSB Frequency 320
SB to NB Overclock Auto
PEG link mode Disbaled
Over-voltage cpu vcore Disbaled
Over-voltage NB vcore Disbaled
Over-voltage SB vcore Disabled

DDR VCORE 2.7
FID/VID Change Manual
Processor Frequency Multiplier 9X

Cas 2.5

//Chipset
K8 to NB Frequency 3x
K8 to NB Linkwidth auto
SB to NB Frequency 2x

Everything stable with those settings, chip seems to struggle above 2.9 ghz, 3ghz needs 1.6+ vcore.

http://photos.blueyonder.co.uk/album/share.html?c_album=2811712

hope this works - first time I've tried to upload to web :o

Front USB+Firewire cables are quite tight to reach the top of mobo but they are OK. Grey cable beside CPU Heatsink is front Firewire connector that I've connected up to my Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard - so have 2 Firewire rear ports + 1 front.
Havent connected front Sound cable as I use rear PCI Slot for soundcard to connect my Altec Lansing 5100 speaker system.
The other 2 grey cables are for the 2 front USB ports connector.
Both have been fed behind HDD racks to minimise length required to reach top of the motherboard.
U can see I have 3HDD's (2 Sata + 1IDE and they also reach np's.
DVD/RW is in top 5.25 bay
DVD-ROM in 3rd bay
Thermaltake Hardcano Fan Monitor in 5th bay - other small cables are 4 temp monitors for CPU/HDD/VGA/Case

Needs to tidy cabling up a bit :)
