I'm having the same problem. It happened last night too, but was working again this morning.

I play on a friends server that is FTB Unleashed based and have had this too.

sorry about the server lag seems i am the guilty one today

So what's the difference between the vanilla and the mod server? As basic as you like please - I know little about these things

Vanilla is plain minecraft
Mod is minecraft with about a 100 extra mods added extending it with magic and machines.
you can play "vanilla" on both servers but you will end up with a lot of extra ores and items on the mod server which will be of no use until you dive in to the mod side.

With FTB looking to not be updating soon we felt a little left behind with Direwolf showing off all the latest and greatest mods soooo we have a little something to help pass the time.
Welcome to the MOD+ 1.6.4 server

and join server - linktart.co.uk:45565
(whitelist from the FTB server has been added to the 1.6.4)
This server is running alongside the FTB server so if you don't want to go through the hassle of installing another client then please continue to use the FTB server.
To use the client please install standard minecraft with your profile set to 1.6.4 run it once then exit - then install the client from the dropbox link, more advanced users please use the following arg when creating a forge 1.6.4 instance with the standard launcher -XX:MaxPermSize=512M or(1024)
edit: had to do a little update the dropbox link should be ready by about 1AM
Another point - the 1.6.4 mod server will have an update once a month

It's updated to 1.6.4 so has horses and all the latest mods unavailable in 1.5.2 which has been sorta out of date for months now.
So I've literally just entered the world of Minecraft and thought I'd join the server.
Downloaded the game (1.7.2), joined the Linktart group. Opened the game, Multi player, Direct Connect and searched for "linktart.co.uk", but I get the error:
"java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information: linktart.co.uk/37.187.79.196:25565"
Am I doing some stupid or is the server down?
