Slots connected, i rushed to get it apart as something wasn't working, usually it's north / Southport goo dried out and over heating. Out comes wires and graphics card and paste it up. Go to put it back together and there's two ATX sockets near cpu. There both 8 socket connectors and from my Corsair tx850 I have one perfect wire that goes into one of the two sockets. The manual suggests I connect both but I can only see one such cable. Do I use a 6and attach a 2, doesn't seem right ?

It sounds like the cable you will be trying to use is a Pcie cable (6+2 pin).

Your power supply should have one EPS cable (4+4 pin) which would be the correct cable for the cpu. You should plug this cable into the 8 pin ATX socket closest to the top of the board.

Edit: I don't have any experience with this particular board but the owners manual states
"Do not forget to connect the 8-pin EATX12V power plugs; otherwise, the
system will not boot."

In which case, you'd need a power supply with 2x 8 pin EPS connectors which I'm not sure the TX850 has.

The TX850 only has one unfortunately, like said above the 6+2 is probably a PCI-E connector.

You could try it with one, some boards work, some don't.
