For me it would have to be tribes. Single player sucked but there was such community/teamwork behind the online leagues it that if I was not playing the game I was chatting to people from the game on barryworld IRC.
OT:Is community lost?

football manager = i might break the screen after a bad loss.. but its almost infinitely replayable.

I think even with all the MMOs and even the massive RPGs you'd eventually run out of quests to run. They'd stop receiving DLC and updates as well.
I'd want a game with no determined end, and an infinite amount of re playability.

although ive only played guild wars i think id have to go the WOW route as it seems bigger and with so many upgrades that keep on coming out it seems it would last quite some time.
alternativly i think id have to go for football manager, purely as there is few other games that are that easy to play for that long with an amasing "just one more match" hook to it.

Quake1 online. no other FPS has come close to it in my opinion.
