I bought my opteron 146 for £105, and my 3000+ venice previously for £70, I wouldnt pay much more than £100 for a CPU.

I cant believe there is anyone who would pay £117 for a venice 3200+ given the availability of opterons.

Bah! Cheers AMD for the great timing. I was going to pick a 165 or 146 up next week when my overtime comes through. Seeing how the prices have gone up already in the last two days where I was going to buy it by about 40 quid on each chip I think I will not bother as I hate paying greedy retailers.

I think its stinks that the lowest of the low cpu cost £120 - 3200 venice, Im sure there is a market for the sub £100 cpu, or even a £50 cpu.

celeron, sempron

start at around 40 quid

got my 3200 retail for 93 :)

I ordered a opteron 146 the other day for £113 and it's now £163 on their website. Though I still aint received it, they cant get any in stock but i guess now AMD have upped the prices they will be sending more stock out.

Well according to sources they arent, they will be restricting this processor to more specialist retailers, not sure if this excludes OCUK i.e. Only places that deal pretty much exclusively with server sales etc?

You might find that your order may not be fulfilled at the price and they will give you a refund and have to re-order at the new price.

The price should be the price on the day he orders it not the price 4 or 5 days later when they send it out. Report to your local trading stds office if you find that a company is doing this....comes under false descriptions i think.

tbh, I got very use to building cheap system during the last days of the old athlons, having the 2500 barton available at around £50 and being able to clock that to 3200 speeds with no issues was too good to be true

Its in one major e-tailors TOS that the contract is not made until the goods are sent out, IIRC they can take your money and return it without any deal being struck.

Regardless of what their terms and conditions say, they cant enforce them when they go against your Statutory Rights as a consumer.
Once an offer of payment for the exchange of goods has been accepted by the seller then a contract to provide the goods at that price is in force.
