They'll notice and demand it back. It's your choice as to whether you give it back now when you have it, or are happy receiving a £500 deduction in your salary at a point in the future where it may really screw you over.

Tell them - in my experience they will find out, especially with such a high discrepancy. When they find out they will take a dim view of you essentially stealing 500 pounds from them (not exactly but you know what I mean).

Exactly...knowing sods law, it'll be the month you REALLY need that 500 in your normal wage packet, and they'll come back to you asking to pay it back straight away.

Indeed and could construed as gross misconduct tbh. Tbh is it worth losing your job over a paltry £500??, thats the question id be asking.

You could always put it all on black at a local casino, then save half of the resultant winnings to repay the company, while blowing the rest.

They will find out, ultimately they always do. They will then ask for the money back, if you don't have it as the lump sum they'll then request you pay it back at £x /p/m. I know someone who was overpaid £3,500 over the course of several months, she's still paying it back (2 years later) and will continue to do so for years to come.

Tell them you spent it on 6000 packets of horse radish.

If they get annoyed say, "Fine, I'll give you all the horse radish then."

You know yourself what the answer is, but if not I'll break it down for you.

If you're not a thief, you'll give the money back and that will be it.

If you're a thief you'll keep the money, and look like penis when they eventually realise and demand it back.

I would give it back - you didn't work for it..

If, or when, they find out and ask for it back, it will look really dodgy for you. They will know you know and just pocketed it.

Just tell them and give yourself a pat on the back :p

Do you enjoy the job? Can you see yourself there long?

I'd just leave it where it is and have the interest, after all its there fault putting it there and you may aswell get something out of it.

speak to payroll - get it sorted out - if you have to even ask the question about what to do - then you must feel guilty about it!

it could be deemed as theft if you spend it knowing that it is not yours!!
