does anyone actually know what the best Nvidia card would be for just physx ????
8800GT ? 8800GTS ?

You do realise this is "unsupported behaviour"? It means that at any point or update nVidia could turn your planned purchase into a paperweight - just like the PPU..

Until nVidia come forward with an official statement that says they'll allow AMD GPUs, then I wouldn't buy a nVidia card for Physx if I have an AMD one already.

9600GT is currently the best of the mid-range cards for physx due to its high shader clock... but the 8800GT and so on would be better in future due to the massively higher number of SPs.

Ok 8800GT it is then, ok what about my PCI express 2.0 4x issue ? will that still max out physx power ? also will my psu be fast enough 75a single rail 910 already have 2x 5870s in but they take very little power from what i see.

Dunno on the power front - PCI-e 2.0 x4 should be fine for physics atm unless it really takes off and even then it would probably be ok.

260GTX possibly uses less power when idle tho (mine use ~25watt for the 55nm and 28watt for the 65nm) and probably runs cooler and quieter at load than the 8/9 series cards...

Even then id sell the 260 and buy something like an 8800/9600, I have ran batman with my 5870 + 8800GTS 320mb and it runs at a constant 60fps with all settings maxxed.

Can't see the point tbh. GTX260 are already making less than £100 on MM. So I can buy a 8800 and net £50 less postage or even less. In the hops that Physx takes off and becomes more demanding I may as well keep my GTX260 ;)
