Hello,

I have resurrected my "previous" Denon 5.1 amplifier (Denon AVR-770SD) to use in a 2nd location. I have various speakers which can make up a 5.1 set of speakers.

The subwoofer output is optionally via the 6th power amp (L, R, Centre, RL, RR) then one amp optionally assigned to the rear centre or subwoofer. Initially I assigned the 6th amp to run the subwoofer as an unpowered speaker. ON running the test sounds when the 6th amp was set to run the subwoofer there was no sound from it. If I set the 6th amp to run the rear centre speaker, the speaker played the test tone.

There is additionally a subwoofer preamp output (from a phono socket) and if I connect this to the subwoofer speaker via a separate KEF power amplifier then this plays the proper subwoofer test tone (i.e. a rumble!).

So what's going wrong here? There is an issue somewhere? There is a relay clicks over when I change the 6th amp assignment - perhaps this has a duff contact. Don't have a circuit diagram.

Any ideas to resolve. Relay seems hidden in the bowels of the amplifier!
