Phantom program entry in 'Programs & Features'

I wanted to uninstall F1 2010 (as I've recently bought and installed F1 2011 which is a big improvement), however when I tried this (using the 'Uninstall' option from within the game menu itself), towards the end of the operation, I got an error message.

I forgot to write it down.

After messing around with various free program uninstallers the phantom entry is still there.

I have also tried reinstalling the game but although it is shown in the list (below the phantom entry which is highlighted) , the game doesn't work.

I wish I had left F1 2010 on there !

Any suggestions on what to try now ?

I can't try system restore as the restore points don't go back far enough.

Install CCleaner.

Run CCleaner.

Click on 'Tools', and select the 'Uninstall' menu.

Highlight F1 2010 and click "Delete Entry"

???

Profit!

Ah, hang on. I misunderstood where the stray entry was. I thought you still had it hanging around in the "Uninstall or Change a Program" menu. Not sure then.

JRS, I can't explain it but when I ran CCleaner (I forgot that you can uninstall programs on there) and selected the 'Delete Entry' option, it worked.

Cheers :)
