So... it's the bleed of the Philips vs the reflections of the NEC! Wonder which will annoy me more :p

Think I'll wait for a few more user reviews of the NEC, to be honest. Igors doesn't have any bleed on his, but there's no telling whether he just got lucky or whether the NEC is generally better engineered. Only time will tell...

I had responses from about 5-6 people around the globe (apart from big thanks as they were very pleased with the monitor)that no panel bleed or backlight is present. Same story as here. Actually, first time when I powered on the monitor I was surprised that no single trace of the panel imperfection is present. It almost reminded me of my old CRT :)

Touchwood, it will stay that way.

so far only 1 person has complained of backlight bleed on the philips

think its more a 1 off fault than a recurring problem like that of the belinea. There was a good number of people who complained of it on here.
