Just hope that some nice person comes along and sets it on fire or something so you get a hefty payout from GAP insurance.

I've never seen a driveaway scheme available to anyone under 21

which company do they use to underwrite you?

Just to be clear, I feel sorry for you for the poor financial choices you have made but if you have knowingly driven uninsured you propel yourself to a new plane of muppetdom

When did you actually sign for it?

If it's still within 5 days (from the second notification) you CAN still take it back tomorrow under the cooling off period in LAW.

For your sake, at least check it out.

aviva is www.dayinsure.com

What cover do I get?
Customers aged 23 and over can purchase short term, comprehensive car insurance for periods of between 1 and 28 days

how did you manage to get cover? if carcraft lied about your details I'd say thats a large loophole and good grounds to take the car back and get stuffed!

although I am curious how you managed to tax the car, you cant use dayinsurance policies for dax disc purchasing

The new road tax regulations came into force on 1st January 2004. The position with regard to using short term vehicle insurance to apply for, and obtain, road tax has not changed. To put it simply, a temporary vehicle insurance certificate cannot be used to obtain road tax for a car/van etc. It will not be accepted for that purpose and you will still need to provide a full annual certificate to tax your vehicle.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why £2k, is that what young drivers have to pay nowadays? I've never paid more than about £300 for my insurance ever since I was 17.
It's a lot more than it was, around 10 years ago I was paying around £600 a year to insure a group 1 car (Fiat Panda Super! :D)... I'm tempted to try another quote but I guess it may be over 1k now?

Insurance always seems to go up....

My first car, a 1300L Mk1 Ford Escort cost me nearly a grand to insure, in about 1990. I never once paid as little as £300 for car insurance before I moved to Germany in 1999. It's a different story now though, maybe your memory is a bit foggy or something?
