pipex trouble?

Is there any you could recommend for a 1mb/2mb user? Presumably a router is better?

Netgear DG834's a popular enough device. Router's not necessarily better (NAT can be a PITA), but as cheap as most (decent) ethernet ADSL modems.

Not really definite where the fault lies - same street means same exchange so possibly same VP, so potentially nothing changes between the two of you between exchange and Pipex.
Mostly eliminates it being the modem's fault though.
