Someone has helped me out hugely recently. She's a volunteer so doesn't get paid for it, and I don't have a huge amount of money, but I'd like to get her something to say thank you, and I figure in her line of work she writes loads.

If I've got say £50 or so, what's a nice ballpoint I could get her?

    Thanks :)

I don't think there is such a thing as a nice ballpoint.

I'd just give her the £50. I know which one I'd rather receive.

She doesn't need £50. It's a gesture. Only reason I say ballpoint is while fountain pens are all well and good, they're a pain in the arse.

I'd say you give her your free ball point. Or flowers, dunno maybe it's just me but I never really see things like pens and letter openers as real gifts.

Pens are so easy to lose. Most of them leak in my pockets too.

Get her a nice briefcase style thing or folder if she writes a lot, she must have to carry around documents?

Give her a Bic with tinfoil glued on to make it shiny.
