I thought a specific thread for logging weight/power profiles and discussing FTP/power training would be very beneficial for everyone. So here it is!

People can use this to regularly update their weight loss/gain and update their power profile info when they re-test regularly. The post below this contains members data, if you post your data/update data I will put it in the post below so it's all on one area of the thread.

For posting your details lets try and keep it standardised to the following. You can post less/more but * items are required -

****************************************************************************************

*Username -
Age -
*Height - FT/INCH
*Weight - KG
*FTP (60min) -
CP (20min) -
5min -
1min -
5sec -
1sec -
Gear - Stages, Garmin Vector, Powertap, Wattbike for example.
Info - Use info to say if it was a specific test, or taken from race data etc. Done on a hilly route, during a TT etc. Also use this for general stuff like info on weight loss/gain or lack of training/injury if you would like to.

Sounds good. I'll re-weigh myself soon (and do a fresh FTP test - my current one is from Sep/Oct last year).

Let's hope nobody gets precious about FTP figures :p

:p Stats are serious business!
Oh, even if you don't have your figures yet, if people just do a post saying they want included I can start populating the list above at least with usernames etc and then just fill in your stats when you post them. So feel free to post your interest and I'll get a wee head start

Good idea for a thread.

Username - Thomas. PLease. (Tom)
Age - 27
Height - 5ft 10in
Weight - c.81Kg
(FTP) W/KG - 3.95
FTP (60min) - 320w
20min - 340w
5min - 396w
1min - 704w
5sec - 1145w

Gear - Power2Max with Garmin Edge 810
Info - FTP info all taken from race or TT data.

Absolute peak power nothing to shout home about, but I can sustain a good sprint for much longer than most which is useful, although I've not really had a chance to exploit in races yet. 10sec is 1047w and 30sec is 900w so not much drop off there.

Numbers put me at the bottom of Cat 2 on coggans chart at current weight, ideally I need to lose another 5kg, and I'd be nearer the top of Cat 2, which is where I feel I should be. Easier said than done though.

Mine are similar to or slightly higher than Thomas' figures. I've not used Golden Cheetah or anything to get them exactly, just off Strava. We have quite a few steady 5 and 10 minute hills with stable gradient for testing yourself on.

I'm 189cm and just under 80kg at the moment.
410w+ for 5 minutes.
375w for 10 minutes.
320-340w for an hour I guess, hard to measure in a race situation as power is up and down so much. A 20 minute FTP isn't that accurate IMO, an hour is lots harder!
1200-1300 for 5 seconds.

Taken during mostly training as I have race wheels without power.

I find looking at NP from crits gives really good FTP estimate, they're normally an hour long or just over, and depending on the circuit you're NP for the hour should be just over your FTP figure.

That makes sense. Even if my TR FTP was accurate I seriously doubt I could hold that power for a full hour. Still, it's all metrics and it makes sense for everyone to use a similar measure (even if FTPs often aren't really directly comparable).

A 20min test is a lot more accesible on a regular basis to the vast majority of people than a 60. Strava and such recommend a 20min as it's a hard effort in itself but most should be able to find a suitable location and suitable timescales to factor it into their training, so that's why I stuck with it for the thread although if you have done them over 60mins then even better, just say so on your post :)

Oh, forgot to put my power figures are taken from a Powertap SL+ hub I use for training, I don't have Strava premium or golden cheetah to punch my data into and have it tell me my best 5/10/20 minutes so I rely on hill climbs where I am likely to getting my best figures and use those.

Will have to see if I can dig up my results from an FTP done last September on a Watt Bike.

If I remember correctly it was something like 242W for 20min at 60kg giving 4.03W/kg

Hard to say for certain if I'm weaker or stronger now without doing another test but I certainly feel weaker!

Be good to see yours as I am a kilo lighter and 250w over 20mins so very similar. What height are you? Guessing you are pretty handy on the climbs!

Just got around to getting myself a heart rate monitor and few other bits and bobs so will be interested in giving this a shot. Got a 70 mile sportive at the weekend in Wales (Aber cyclefest if anyone else is attending?) so maybe next week I'll give it a go.

I installed GoldenCheetah at 18:00.... 22:35, 60mins past my bed time and I am still sitting her fiddling about with it. Goodbye life.

Anyone else endlessly tinkering with this software?
