Private number question.

I've bought a private number plate on retention that I have received on certificate with the old owner signing it and writing my name as the nominee.

My question is, if I wanted to sell this in the future is it possible to get a new certificate with just my name on and then the nominee blank so I could send to a new owner?

I think that as the nominee you're entitled to assign it but to become the owner you have to apply to dvla.

Someone else will correct this if it's wrong.
