For some reason all the albums are displayed about 3 different times with different songs in each one,
The artist is correct in all of them. The only thing thats different is the composer but since a lot of songs for singers would have different composers it wouldnt make sense to change the library based on that.
They need album artists - usually it's the same as the single artist, but if you have a Various Artists album, you'd have the Album Artist as Various Artists, and the individual artists set separately. It's not retarded, it's the most sensible way of doing it. If it didn't have that, then all Various Artist albums would be over the shop, and I'd have one massive album called 'Greatest Hits' made up of a ton of albums with the same name.
It is stupid though, it makes it impossible to use the library because you have 10 copies of the same album listed. If your viewing by artist, album artist shouldnt affect it, otherwise it should be called view by album artist.
Just set the album artist, and all will be solved. There's a tool called Album Art Fixer for Media Center - it'll probably work with WMP (as they're inextricably linked). It checks all your music for Album Art and checks that Album Artist is entered for each track - amongst other things. Give it a go, it'll sort if pretty quickly. http://www.avsoft.nl/artfixer/ EDIT: If you don't want any of your music to move (on the drive), don't ever have the 'Fix Locations' box ticked.
