Ive just put together a new computer today, it's an q6600, abit ip35 pro motherboard and 2x1Gb Balistix 8500 memory. When I powered on the machine it constantly beeps at me. So I removed one memory stick and it stopped and booted up.

Swapped the memory over for the other one and it starts beeping, in fact does this connected to all four memory slots, the led status shows 'C1' which in the manual mentions memory test failure.

I think ive got a faulty memory stick as surely both memory sticks should work without any config changes?

Could someone give me some advice please?

Thanks

Stan..

Yip i should work fine on first boot.

Use your good stick to set the proper settings in BIOS (1066mhz 5-5-5-15 2.2v) and see if that works (unlikely).

If not then you're probably better RMA'ing it direct to Crucial.

Ive got exactly the same set up IP-35 Pro, q6600 and 2 X 1GB Ballistix Tracer 8500 and it works fine. Booted up at 1.8 in BIOS even. Sounds like a dodgy stick or the memory slot. I had to return an ASUS board because 2 of the memory slots were dodgy and would not boot. Try 1 stick in different slots as a tester.
