So a while ago I went to a "white nationalists" forum, I was curious to see what they their thinking was. In one of the discussions, someone asked "if you are proud of your country, you aren't you proud of your color?". I would just say, well that's completely different, but then again it's not that different. I didn't know what to say, I am not proud of my race, but I am proud of my nationality.

    Any thoughs on this one?

I don't give a toss about colours, its the most useless attribute, ethnicity and nation come first.

Turks are white, but because I am white too doesn't mean I like them.

Country is more important than anything else. The rest is debatable.

I was going to find a picture of a Turkish man on the internet and post it alongside a white square I'd have knocked up in Paint so we could see the contrast, but my Google search for ["Turkish man" jpg] just turned up dozens of porn sites. :D

Anyway, Turks aren't really white. Mind you, nobody is apart from albinos. But I know what you mean, that they're the same sort of colour as most Western Europeans. Well I disagree. Can we have some more opinions on the matter? :)

    Turks - white or yellow?

I'm proud of my nationality, but I wouldn't say skin colour plays a particular part in my pride. There are many black people who are just as "English" as anyone else.

In my eyes, the main factors of determining whether someone is "English" or not, are language, culture and in some cases religion.

Someone who wears ostentatious religious garments, or who lives their life around a strict religion to the extent that it prevents them fully partaking in our modern, secular culture, is not in keeping with this country's culture, and therefore, I do not consider them to be English.

    Yellow.

And in answer to the thread... I'm proud of my colour & race.

Why not? Were you taught not to be or did you come to your own conclusion - if so, what lead you to believing this? What is your race/color? :)

They are white, like mediterraneans, not like Swedes, but white nonetheless.

Oooooh, because his country is close to Turkey and the two have a national feud he thinks he's an expert! :D

Big deal Stavros, I live in London's Little Turkey! I walk past them in the street every day and buy some milk from one of their shops three times a week, so I bet I'd get called in court as an expert about this over you any day of the week son! :p

The Anglican Church has been adopted/integrated into our culture and makes few demands on those who follow it, other than a few principles and life values which help determine right from wrong.

There are other faiths in existence, which seem engineered in a strict, uncompromising manner, which ensures that the religion flourishes above all else and that it is never fades peacefully into the past.

The flag in my sig, is of course the Union Jack, which I do believe is English. It comprises of three heraldic crosses, representing St George, patron saint of England, St Andrew, patron saint of Scotland, & the cross of St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland.

The present union jack was designed in 1800-1801, and was the result of the amalgamation of the previous union flag of St George & St Andrew combined with the design described in my previous paragraph. The redesign came about as a result of the act of union of Ireland and England.

Im confused as to how someone can be proud of their nationality but not their race. You have no control over either so you are either proud of both, or of neither surely?

I dont think im proud of Britain as such..I admire it greatly, i think very highly of its history and its achievements..I dont like the way its going today, or the way a majority of the population acts...but i still love the country...Am i proud of it? Im not sure I can be as I didnt make it what it is...Im proud to be British though.

As for my ethnicity...Proud? Again, whats there to be proud of? White people are not a united group, there are enormous differences so how can I be proud to be white if there are a different group of whites doing terrible things?

Im not proud to be white, but im glad to be white :)

I'm brown .... don't have much pride colour wise as skin colour doesnt mean much to me, black white brown or yellow, its just a colour!

I AM proud to be British, and also proud of Britain's achievements, and want to see it do well above any other country.

I know the history of the flag, I'm just interested in your thoughts on being the British flag, and you describing it as english.

I pretty much agree, but prob with a totally different slant...

You dont know what British is? You are British if you are a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and if you are in keeping with British culture and tradition.
