My gf recently bought me a ps2 off ebay and I would like to get a remote control for it. I've had a look and a lot of the auctions say that the remotes only work on newer PS2 models.
How can I find out if mine will be ok?

No, it's the older style.
But the auctions I've looked at have quoted model numbers rather than just saying "new thinner models"

If your PS2 is either the new thin style, or has an IR window between the power and eject buttons, you can use those remotes.

If you don't have the built-in IR, you need the original remotes that came with the plugin IR receiver.

The later fat PS2s have built in IR sensors. I think they're the ones without an I-link and a small sensor under the power button. If it's an older one you'll need a remote that comes with a sensor that plugs into the controller port. :) hope this helps.
