My dad wants to buy a laptop. He will pretty much use it for internet, email & word processing. I haven't got a clue about laptops, which of the following specs is the best?

    Acer Aspire 3003LC:

    AMD Sempron 3000+ processor
    256MB DDR SDRAM
    40GB Hard Drive
    DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
    15"TFT XGA Screen
    SiSM760GX Graphics

    OR.......

    Dell Inspiron 1300

    Intel® Celeron® M Processor 380 (1.60 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 400 MHz FSB)
    512MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x256)
    80GB (5.400rpm) Hard Drive
    8X DVD+/-RW
    15.4inch WXGA (1280x800) LCD Panel

The Dell costs £70 more, is it worth the extra money?

Well look at it this way....

    256MB more RAM
    40GB more HDD space
    8X DVD drive
    Slightly bigger screen

All for an extra £70. TBH I don't think there's really much of a choice :p
