Nice work on the sunroof, I'd have gone the lazy way about it and just rivetted a plate over it but that looks like it'll be very neat when it's done.

I was going to say just the same thing, my dad's 4x4 Alfa 33 just had a nice ugly plate riveted over the sunroof hole :D

Right, nearly done the sunroof, just a bit of sanding and a coat of white paint it'll be sorted.

After waiting 6 months, i finally lost my rag. A few not so nice words to the people involved and low and behold the rollcage turned up.

The first thing i noticed was that the idiots put one of the bars in the wrong place. Instead of putting it across the rear legs and doubling as a brace and harness bar, they put it across the main hoop. There is no logical explanation as to why anyone would want a bar here, especially when it catches on the corsa's exhaust tunnel inside. Two words really, absolute morons.

Off comes said bar with hacksaw and fit it in the car, just to make sure it's actually a Corsa cage. Also at this point i line up the foot plates and weld them in place.

As the bar is missing from the rear legs, i now need to make some harness bars. After cutting to length and messing around with a hacksaw i finally get the required angles cut. They go here...

Weld the bars in, tidy it up as the welder was throwing a hissy fit making a right mess.

Yep that looks good enough, more primer, do the lot.

Didn't take long for the primer to dry so i mixed up some two pak and off we went. End result isn't too bad, will pop up tomorrow and bolt the rear in. Still need to do the front but don't have the time atm.

Hi, tiny update.
The rear cage is now in place as you can see.

Will pop up on Monday and hopefully spray and fit the front half. Will then mount the seats and harnesses in place. Having driven the car down the road a few times it's become clear that it is going to be hard for me to hear my navigator. With the noise from the exhaust, induction and the gearbox whining, I'm going to have to slap the soundproofing and carpet back in. It does sound lush (will try and get a recording if anyone wants it) but on night events we're not allowed intercoms so it's going to be hard on the hearing.

Why aint you allowed intercoms on night events? :)

Looks good... should be fun. :D
Not sure but you aren't :( I've used intercoms before, they're excellent - especially in a stripped out Mk2 Escort with whiney box and split 48's :D

Really annoyed at myself that progress is at a standstill on the Peugeot, but I'm having to use it as a daily driver and things like roll cages, seats and harnesses help make cars in Swansea go walkies :(

Hi,
Yes the cage will have to be re-certified. No intercoms around here :(, not in shropshire atleast, although it may be ok in Wales (same story with spotlights)
It's not so bad around here for cars dissapearing in the night but i will have to find somewhere reasonable to leave the car when it's done.
