Hi,

Firstly not looking for a mac (i've already got a mbp). My partner is looking to get a new laptop as his old dell desktop is slowly fading away. PC preferred as he has always used Adobe Audition and only has about £400 (£500 at a push) to spend. I would like to know which brands you'd recommend as reliable and sturdy.

I saw on Play for £399:
Acer Aspire 5732Z - 443G50Mn / PDC 4400 2.2GHz / 4GB / 500GB / 15.6 inch / DVD-SM / Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit / Laptop

I thought that looked ok but read reviews and although mostly good the few bad ones have put me off. Is this worth getting?

He'll most likely get an external sound card once bought to get the best sound. So it's more just a decent processor and a lot of ram to prevent latency.

Also Windows 7, i haven't heard it's the best OS in regards to latency. Has anyone recorded with W7 and if so how did you find it?
