Recommend me a good economical small engine size car for daily commute

If all you want is cheap motoring then a micra will do you very well, very reliable and economcal. My mum had one for years and nothing except routine servicing ever had to be done, and they're chain driven so no cambelt to worry about.

Had mine 4 years.
It is slow and is not fun, but it doesn't break.

If you want a car that notoriously breaks done get the Clio, my mate had hell with his 1.5 CDI.

How many miles had it done? - they are notorious for problems in the first ~6K miles but those that make it beyond that or have been repaired are usually good little runners specially for commuting and around town.
