Renaultsport Megane 225 Insurance

quick question, anyone got any idea what is the deal with the somewhat substantial difference in insurance price on Megane 225 between 55 and 06 plates, I know they got some minor body work changes and such between the two but can't figure out why the '06 ones onwards are so much more to insure. they are essentially the same car underneath right? obviously after the handling tweaks and such happened.

I guess cost of parts has increased, more 06/+ crashed/stolen etc

There is a point when insurance companies consider cars new and old.
I suspect the iones quoting for you are working on 7 years as the break point.
