I currently use Thunderbird but I can't find any extensions that will give me things like calender and to do list functions, can anyone recommend an extension or standalone program?

I've not tried it, but there is this - http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/

I'm forced to keep Outlook on my machine just so I can sync my PDA contacts and calendar with it, I use Thunderbird for my email though.

I use a combination of Time & Chaos with Express Plus, although any email client will do. So much better than Outlook and there is a plug in for syncing with PDA's.
