Got my new Ryzen 7 1700 & MSI Carbon x370 Mobo the other day, been playing around with an overclock, with 16gb DDR 4 RAM at 3066mhz

I can pretty easily get a stable 3.9ghz overclock at 1.38v, with max temps around 68c on air cooling using Prime95

ON my last intel build I had my overclock settings so that it would power up & down depending on usage, any help as to what settings I should use with my new AMD build to achieve the same thing?

at the moment its just constantly sat at 3.9ghz 1.38v, when it doesn't need to be all the time?

The simplest way is to go bios and change the multiplier. Just do it in small stages and check your temps are ok under stress.

My 1700 is overclocked to 3.7ghz on 1.2v and temps at most low 50's.

I've been doing that, I have it at a stable 3.9ghz at 1.38v, temps around 63c under prime96 stress test, 50c ish in games

I want to set it manually though so it downclocks the voltage and clockrates when its not needed, i.e when its idle etc, at the moment its constantly on 3.9ghz when it doesn't need to be?

I tried turning on AMD Cool n Quiet but that hasn't worked?
