I need two TVs. One to replace a Sony that broke today and one new one.

Makes sense to get two of the same.
Looking at a Samsung 55 4K but have no idea where to begin really.

Always used to be a Sony person (2 previous 40 1080 TVs) but considering Samsung for first time.

So, do I want Samsung or another brand?

Amazon Firestick
Xbox One

What else do I need to consider? Flat not curved I think.

Hard to say without a budget.

In terms of 55" you can start at the top with the 2017 LG and Sony OLED TVs. They'll cost £3000-£3500.

The 2016 LG OLEDs are £1599. Less if you can get a code. Absolute bargain if you ask me.

LCD TVs aren't quite as good. Higher peak brightness, yes; but inferior contrast. If you're going LCD, I'd recommend some variety of FALD rather than edge-lit.

Do they need to be the same? You could weigh the budget towards your main one. With TVs you do get what you pay for; especially in the competitive 55" size class. I'd rather have one 58" Panasonic DX902b than 2 55" Hisense for example.
