Samsung 840 Evo problem

In a nutshell I have an AsRock FM2A75 Pro 4 motherboard running the AMD chipset drivers, which do not work with Samsung Magician and I cannot update the firmware on my 840 Evo SSD (Silly boy for buying these together in the first place but that's for another day). I tried doing it with a USB key but that didn't seem to work either.

After much digging around it appears that if I change the AHCI drivers to either the Intel ones or the Microsoft ones the firmware update will work.

1) Has anyone else had this problem and solved it this way?
2) Stupid question but how would I go about changing the AHCI drivers?
3) Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bledd, thanks for the suggestions above.

I did what you said and downloaded the ISO image and burned it to a USB stick using Rufus, however when I tried to boot from it I got an exception error and it didn't work?? It just froze waiting for a new command, should i have typed anything. I entered a Y, in case it was waiting for a yes or something (how can you tell I don't know what i am doing lol) but it said it was a bad command.

Would a screen shot help??
