Samsung ps42q96 42" Jaggies problem

So I have just bought this TV as it was offered to me by a friend for a remarkably cheap price, I just wanted it for playing XBOX360 on but upon connecting the 360 to it via HDMI and setting the 360 res to 720p I fired up Battlefield 3 and there is just so many jagged lines I can barely make out anything in the distance.

I fiddled around with the TV settings but it made no difference. Does anyone have this model or know anything about this model?

It'll be outputting 720P, but BF3 isn't rendered in 720P, it's 1280x704
Also, the TV itself is 1024x768 resolution

So there's going to be 2 lots of scaling going on, which introduces nastyness.

Nothing you can do about it.
