    I'm getting - Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AMD 890GX (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard

    It supports SATA 3.

Is there much of a difference between SATA 2 and 3?

Are SATA 3 HD's readily available? (I don't see any on the OcUK website)

    Cheers guys :).

For mechanical drives Sata 6Gb is pointless, they are no where near using all the Sata 2 bandwidth. There are some SSD's that are just into to Sata 6Gb territory.

No point in SATA3 on a mechanical HDD.
