Right I've got a SBS 2003 box setup and it collects email via pop3 and sends out using the smtp connector through the email hosts smtp server. Now I have a serious problem where by an email comes in that doesn't match a user such as [email protected] (enquiries spelt wrong) and the mail then appears to bounce back and forth between my box and our email host repeatedly. in the space of 3 hours 7000 emails came in mainly from one person. After configuring recipient policies to block that particular email address I though I had fixed it but sure enough I've just logged on now to check and there is 36000 emails in there from a msn address

I've almost cleared them up now but I'm not sure what the problem could be. When I was using the standard smtp virtual server to send mail via dns I had no problem, only when I set the smtp connector up it started (had to do this because it fails to send to aol addresses)

I set the connector up as per many guides i found on the net and configured even more policies in the mail delivery option in exchange manager.

Here is the source of one of the email

They will be getting some spam software soon but tbh I though the IMF in exchange sp2 would be good enough for the time being.

Any ideas what I have done wrong?

Thanks very much for that mate, I have installed sp1 for 2003 server and exchange sp2 but not sbs 2003 sp1, sounds like the problem i'm having. Although it seems to have stopped since I stopped using an external smtp server, and send emails out directly

You will need to install the SBS SP1 to get the updates for the POP3 connector etc.
