Second monitor freezes windows

I have no idea what is going on with this.

If I plug in my second monitor (Fairly old Acer, can't remember model number, Displayport, Gsync, 144hz), windows freezes completely. My primary display freezes, and I cannot input any commands through the keyboard. Numlock and Capslock lights don't change when pressed.

As soon as I unplug the monitor, the freeze stops, and everything functions as expected.

This monitor does have a slight quirk, where sometimes it'll power on but won't receive any signal from the GPU. Have to remove the power cable for 5 minutes and replug. Otherwise it's been fine for many months now and nothing has changed, it just suddenly froze my PC.

I figure it's not a total electrical fault as I would expect it to crash my PC, not just freeze it. Do I just write it off?
