pcie :( and what about a 7300gt ddr3?
comparisons between a 7300gt ddr3 or 6800gt?

the 6800gt is a 16 pipe card, you can roughly tell how a card will perform based on pipes, though the 7300/7600 cards are 7 series, they are replacements for lower end cards than yours in the 6 series. 7600 12 pipes as opposed to the 8 in the 6600gt, 7300 i would assume will still only be 4 pipes as the lowest card hasn't changed for a while for amd/nvidia, its just a budget card more for general use than anything for really gaming. the 7300(at most with 8 pipes but unlikely) will be no where even close to as good as a 6800, the 7600 would be a marginal upgrade at best, basically less pipes, higher clocks newer(marginally) feature set - essential no difference. the only "upgrades" from your card would be a 7800/7900/x1800/x1900 all of which have either more pipes(7800/7900) or much more efficient pipes(x1800/x1900). anything less than those is really a waste. so the cheapest "upgrade" card is going to be the x1800gto or x1800xt which can be had for around the £140-160 mark now. trust me, anything less you will not see a difference, you really won't. if you can stretch beyond that then maybe a x1900gt(very rare, unlockable sometimes i believe so maybe a very very good card for cheap) or a 7800gt/7900gt.

x1800gto has 12 pipes and is little slower than 7600gt according to the reviews at hardocp.

no 6 series card can even compete with the 7600gt, not even the 6800 ultra extreme. the 7600gt is a formidable card especially for its price, i got mine for £97.50p inc vat and delivery, so for its price its an amazing card.

how ever i upgraded from a 6800nu which was clocked to 390/835 and fully unlocked, my 6800nu died in a bios flash so i went and got the 7600 as a cheapo replacement and was shocked to see how much more powerful it was. the added 128mb ram of the 7600 is also a bonus in todays games over the old 6800nu's 128mb.

for you though if you sell your card for around 100 quid. add the extra 65 quid in and you can have a x1800xt delivered to your door. very good upgrade.

Stuff without grammar.

The 7300GT are 8 pipes and when overclocked they are as fast or faster than a 6800GT, but like I said earlier there is very little point selling one card for basically the same thing.

Jombo your sig shows you to have a asrock board like mine. don;t tell me that you don;t know that there is a pci-e slot on there?

Lol I knew that yeah, but I bought it so I could use my Geforce 6800 GT as it also has an agp slot.

I was gonna keep it and not go pci express, but then conroe is coming out, so I flogged it all. Now I have a pci express card and am wanting a mobo for it + conroe of course.

Does that make sense? :)
