is there any server software for winXP pro SP2 which will let me control the network, IP addresses, mac addresses, DHCP, bandwidth limit on each IP addresses etc. Also share the internet via 4 ports switch box for 4 PC's, port forwarding, printer server, NAT.

i cant afford to buy server 2003, dont want to use/install IIS etc. not bothered with mail server as all of us using web-mail (gmail, hotmail etc)

i'm sure there are some simple software do those jobs but i tried google, found nothing

    cheers :)

sounds like you just need a broadband rouer, by default most routers will include DHCP, he router manages the internet connection, you can do port forwarding, print server - all you need to do is enable sharing on a pc and then the other pcs print via that pc

you may want a router like the netgear DG632 as shown here

hope this is of some use

So, to clarify, you want a QoS control and bandwidth throttling proxy?

You could take a look at something like smoothwall or clarkconnect.

If you buy yoruself a decent adsl router as suggested it will probably have most of the features required.
