Was just out driving normally and my drivers side window completely shattered  Is that possible?

The glass shattered covering me, the passenger seat, all over the floor and down by the pedals.

Cant seem to figure out how its happened

Likely to be a costly fix?

The car is a 99 Corsa

Get yourself to a scrappy, easy fix! should be cheap too.

Unless something hit it (which lets be honest would be fairly unlikely - may be a duck?) you would imagine it was an imperfection in the glass.

Got a new window for £15 from a scrappy.

Now just trying to find someone to fit it! tried autoglass who want £70 to fit, local indy wants £50.

Could try fitting it myself but dont want to create more problems :(

No, totally impossible, you must be dreaming. :p:D

Sorry, could not resist! :o

As for fitting, surely you know somebody who knows spanners? £20 should convince them its worth their while. :)

Or, try it yourself? - A Haynes manual is only about £10, its not a hard job at all.

Ive managed to remove the bottom part of the door trim but cant seem to remove the top part which the electric window switches are on.

Does the plastic sheet need to be replaced immediately? as ill have to break it to remove the shattered glass at the bottom.

I had this happen in my old Ford Escort while going up the a50. I thought I was being shot at!

Was a cold drive for the final 2 hours!

I got a replacement from a scrappy for £20 and fitted it in 1/2 hour :)

Peel the sheet back, if its stuck fast, cut it with a stanley and then glue it back down, as said above though, some never bother replacing it....

The top part will most likely be held in place by a screw thats probably hidden, poke around....

I don't know the layout of a Corsa's door well I'm afraid.

It can happen. Remember when I was at college I saw somebody's rear window just smash for no reason. Poor kid was sure somebody must have put it through but there was nobody anywhere near it. Suspect it was down to stress fom Temperature changes or the rear hatch being slammed or something
