As per title im looking for a shortish term graphics card to run BFBC2 the only problem i have is that im stuck with PCI-Express 1 slot on my Asrock 4coredual-sata2 motherboard until the system gets replaced later this year. I was personally looking at a 9800gtx as the manufactuers website said that the mb supports that card, your advice would be much appreicated and no it doesnt have to be an nvidia card.

First off, what resolutioon are you wanting to play BFBC2 at, and what operating system are you using?

If you are gaming at 1920 x1080 or more, then you are probably going to need something like a 5750 or 5770 to play it with some eye candy turned on. If you have windows vista or 7, you will also be able to play it in DX11, which all of ATi's 5000 series support.

for short term with-out the need to spend a great lot, a 9800gt can be had for £30-£40 these days, it will play BFBC2 at reasonable settings.

Then you should just grab a HD4890. A very good performance dx 10 card at around £100 ish price. 9800GTX would most likely struggle a bit in 1920x1080. Or try to get a 2nd hand HD4870 at around £60-70.

i got a 8800gtx and it perfectly plays BCBF2 fine, im on high settings, so a 9800gtx wont struggle that much

pci express 1 is the same size as 2. its just the performance thats changed. newer cards will work in older slots but with reduced speed.
like a new card with agp slot. itll work but not as fast as same card with pci-e slot
