It's safe to say you've not tried anything else!
I've driven plenty of other makes of cars so you are wrong.
For example When someone crashed into that Focus i was given a 1yr old Astra with only 18k on the clock for 2 weeks and I literally could not wait to get that 9yr old Focus back the Astra was the most depressing worst handling thing I have ever driven. I prefer Fords to other run of the mill manufacturers like Vauxhall, VW, Kia, and any French/Italian crap.
And for me buying my Focus ST last year was the best option over an unreliable VXR Astra, slower Golf GTI, or the gash looking MPS and Cupra.

39 brake horsepower.

39.

The reason the paint is flaking from the front bumper is because the sheer speed of the vehicle caused it to peel off.

I had one of these.

(Not this one sadly, Mine is long gone, but it did look like that)

It was originally my Dads,. but it was transferred to me and therefore qualifies as being my first car.

TPF&T at the time for a 21 year old for this was 1 weeks wages!

How times have changed! :( :(

I think I may well have had the crappiest first car... Renault 12 TL 1978 (actual photo of car, taken in 1988).

Given to me free when I was 17, had a blown head gasket and no MOT. I had just started my apprenticeship as a mechanic and hadn't a clue what I was doing with it, my Dad helped me strip it down. Took cyl head to an engineering company, got it skimmed and valves lapped in. New head gasket set, reassembled and that's as far as it got. Bought myself a Yamaha RD125LC and never looked back :D

1999 306 HDI Dturbo. Bought in 2010, did most of my learning to drive in it, then did about 13,000 miles a year in it for three years until I decided I wanted to change to a quicker diesel and bought the 330d. To be fair to the French this 306 never missed a beat and didn't really need anything replacing other than normal consumables, but I decided I wanted new shocks and springs all round. Easily more reliable than the 330d and both had similar mileages and did/do the same commutes.

Sadly it's destined for scrap this year as it won't pass another MOT due to (believe it or not on a 306) rust. Shame really as the rest of the car, especially the engine, feel good enough to do another 100,000 miles without an issue :(

Don't think I've ever taken a picture of any of my cars but my first was a mini metro bought from my grandfather for £800. Had that a few years before it rusted away. Then I had another in even worse condition from my stepfather. God they were awful cars. :p

Vauxhall Belmont, bought for something like £100
The first car I actually bought and not given. Hateful car that would randomly cut out and with a crappy battery meant many a push starts.
Fortunately for me but not before I'd just got it a new battery it ended up like most Belmont's, stolen.

Ford Escort 1.3 'Encore'. No PAS, ABS, or rev counter, had a stupid little Webber carb instead of fuel injection and skinny tyres. Never gave me much trouble, apart from when the exhaust fell off.

There is a lot to be said for REALLY simple cars - kind of wish one of the big manufacturers would build a car with modern build quality but super simple running gear. Unfortunately, most of the safety legislation prevents such an endeavour (ABS mandatory for example).

(wasn't actually this low thankfully! I lowered it on photoshop at the time and can't find the original!)

Passed in 2005, bought this as my first car and had to pay £2100 insurance! Did 25k miles in a year then sold it to a chap on here who wrote it off after a week :( Loved it so much I bought a newer lower mileage one, then replaced that with another one albeit a VTS. Still think they were great cars although may be rose tinted glasses!

I feel your pain. :(

The demands of current CO2/emission legislation also means that such vehicles are basically impossible today.

However, I do feel that we are currently well past the point of diminishing returns on these issues....!
